On my way to work this morning car started fine no problems. get half way to work and stop at a stop light. go to take off and it back fires and has no power. fuel pressure is fine it goes into boost fine. EGT's pin out to 1600 degrees. J&S safeguard is going crazy pulling timing when ever I step on it. ECU is throwing no codes and everything looks right under the hood. Car also does not smoke. it almost feels electrical to me but I am at a loss. any ideas???? other than this morning the car has never acted this way. thank you guys

all the ignition components are fairly new. The car will start and idle just fine it just has no power at all max speed of about 45MPH. I did a compression test and got 200psi across the board and like I said it does not feel like a mechanical problem. I am going to hook up the scan tool so I can see what all the sensors are doing and then go from there. crosses fingers. anywho any other ideas??? thanks

When I put in my new engine, I had something like this. The engine would start and idle fine, but when you tried to rev it, it just couldn't breath.

The car would drive at low speeds (I got it up to 30mph maybe), but just seemed to choke (not die, just react very feebly) when you gave it gas.

The problem? I put the timing belt on with the cam gears aligned, but the crank was one tooth off.

Maybe your timing belt jumped a tooth?

Make sure the car is in time. Also, examine the distributor cap and rotor button for problems.

Did you say it still runs and idles fine... just no power ?!?

lets hope this is not the cause!!! Although the timing belt does have 90,008 miles on it now. I limped it home last night and limped it to work today. hopefully I will have a chance to take off the timing belt cover and see if that is my problem. I looked under the hood and under my kick panel at my nest of spagetti and everything seems to be fine there. wish me luck! thanks guys

I knew something was wrong when I had to turn the distributer all the way just to get timeing into positive territory!

Well come to find out the scan tool has found a code, although it is a snap-on scanner. so with that said it says manufacture specific code # 1106 does anybody have a clue what this is. I did the old paper clip in the diagnostic port and the check engine light does nothing but aperently the scanner picks up this strange code. when I clear the codes the car runs fine and there are no problems, but it will throw the code in under 2 miles of driving then the same thing happens. Bang back fire and then no power again. any insight would help!!! thank you guys

Code 1106 seems to be the Barometric Pressure circuit (ECU/PCM Baro sensor). Try another ECU to verify.
